Now for a little of the food that shows up from time to time in the Rhe Brewster Mysteries:
Fifteen minutes later we were chatting amiably in the Irish Setter Pub, which was apparently the only Irish eatery in northern Maine. The menu offered bangers and mash, Celtic chicken, and shepherd’s pie, but Robert ordered what he told me was his favorite dish: corned beef with boiled cabbage, potatoes and carrots. In my family this was known as a boiled New England dinner, derived from the traditional Irish meal of beef and boiled cabbage. I ordered the same.
“I wouldn’t have taken you for Irish,” I teased.
“Well, I grew up right here in Aroostook country, which you probably know was settled in part by the Irish. They came from the coffin ships carrying sick and dying passengers from Ireland to Quebec during the potato famine. Many of the survivors then walked across the border to escape further British rule.”
Death by Pumpkin is now on Amazon, but the real release date will be in about nine days, when it becomes available on Kindle.

Yummy !
It is yummy – I ate it there and it was delicious!
I’ll have to check what’s Celtic chicken. It would make for an interesting title… (I don’t eat meat but it’s intriguing)

I haven’t a clue but I can check the menu on line!
Celtic chicken = A tender grilled chicken breast and a traditional guinness infused sausage, with your choice of potato and vegetable of the day
Mmmmmm… A tasty bite, Noelle! Heading over to download my copy and will share your post.
Couldn’t find it on Amazon yet, but will grab a copy SOON! xo
It won’t be on Kindle for another week or so, so I’m not doing a big splash for a while yet. This marketing is such a headache. Thanks for following me and reading!
That made me hungry, Noelle. Release is right around the corner! 🙂
Yes, indeed. Would love you to take a look at the book!
Of course. I have to see what Rhe is up to!
Send me your address to my email (sailingawayng@gmail.com)!
Oh, Noelle, that’s generous of you. I’ll buy it as soon as you announce it’s on kindle. I like supporting other authors with an actual sale. 🙂
Thank you so much, Diana. I always buy the books I review for Rosie because I figure the authors need the sales! Much appreciated!
Made me hungry, too. And lunch time here. 🙂 Love good talk of food in a book. And this one’s on my list, for when life slows down a tad.
What is Celtic Chicken? Good luck with the new book btw! 😚
Oh… I just saw what Celtic Chicken is in the comments… sounds delish!
Thanks, Ali! Does that chicken sound Celtic?
Congratulations! I was regifted a Kindle that I still haven’t had the time to figure out how to use (or even what KIND it is – whatever happened to manuals?) I plan to join the Kindle generation eventually, 🙂 and your books are on my list of anticipated downloads.

Thanks so much. I write for fun and hope that anyone reading my books enjoy them as much as I did creating them!
I’m sure they do! I’ll let you know – once I get my classes restarted and can lie on my chaise and read to my heart’s content. Ah! to be a lady of leisure.

We call this potato hash, sometimes it’s made with red cabbage instead of green cabbage or sweet corn.
Food is food the world over – I think this is mainly Celtic. I grew up eating it!
