SHORTS, NOVELS, AND OTHER THINGS

my jerry-rigged computer set up

Just want to let all of my blogging friends  know I have managed to rig something up with a lap top that suffices for the time being in terms of emails and posting. I have still not figured out how to avoid neck stiffness if I sit there for more than an hour or two, no matter how many books I put under the lap top or how I raise or lower my chair. I also need binoculars to see the screen.

Computer returns tomorrow, a blank book of empty files.  However, I have sent the fried hard drive off to CA and am hopeful the company on the receiving end can recover everything. Until then, I’m baaaack although intermittently, sort of like cell phone service in certain areas.

Christmas is looking up, although we discovered a leak in the roof yesterday…

  1. Yay! Do you use Internet Explorer Noelle? If you do, go to the little wheel on the top right hand corner. Click on it and you will see ‘Zoom’. You can select any size you wish to make the screen easier to read. 🙂

    1. Thanks, Bee. I tried that and it improved the screen but not enough. Repaired computer arrives today and I can’t wait to get it up and running, even if it is empty,

    1. Thanks for the encouraging words, Sylvia. I have my computer back, blank of course, but hopefully the recovery company will be able to help me. Merry Christmas! This is my time of year!

  2. I hope things are going back to normal. My broadband company offers a fair bit of cloud saving that’s always working on the background but I try and save in other places too. Mind you… one can never be sure of anything. I think we need a lease and insurance system for writer’s work (not too expensive though!)

    1. The leak is not bad, Olga. It is coming from around a chimney. The problem is that it has been raining for the last week and the roof guy can’t get up on the roof it’s too slippery in the rain. My computer now has a new drive – I’m waiting to hear back from the company that has the old drive, to see if they can recover the contents. I just need to download all of my original programs to the new drive. Thanks for your support!

  3. Oh no! Sorry to hear that! I lost my hard drive earlier in the year and had to do without a computer for a while… it’s a writers nightmare. Hope you’re sorted soon. Xxx

    1. It has been a nightmare – I now have the new drive installed and am waiting to see if the recovery company can rescue anything from the old drive. What a way to end the year!
