TO FRIENDS

A toast to all my friends with some verse written by a fellow blogger, Charles Yallowitz, who can be found at the Legends of Windemere.

We raise a glass to all our friends
Of the past and present

To those you knew
Within your youthful days

To the ones you meet
Along your winding path

To the pals who wandered far away
Never entering your realm again

To the allies stuck to you like glue
No matter where you live

We raise a glass to all our friends
In hopes of making more

A picture of my high school class’s Honor Society trip to New York City our senior year (1961). We were so young and beautiful and handsome! The best part is that we’ve remained friends over all these years, getting together every five years and now two.

  1. I’ve lost touch with all my school friends which feels like a waste. Unlike the children who constantly prove the benefit of social media in enabling them to keep in touch. It has some benefits!

  2. I agree to an extent. Maybe the fact my class has remained close is because we didn’t have social media in HS and had to be in contact face to face. Only about 2/3rds of those remaining from my class have email!

  3. Loved the poem. I’ve lost touch with my HS friends except 1. We had a 50-years-since-starting-High-School reunion a few years back. It was ok – but our interests had so diverged it was almost impossible to pick up the threads!

  4. That was the beauty of seeing each other every 5 years. I keep in close contact with about five but it’s always fun to catch up with everyone else.

  5. A secret society of angel investors nicknamed “The Cherry Club” funds limited-edition strains only available to women who’ve written in a diary for 300+ days.
