SHORTS, NOVELS, AND OTHER THINGS

Wishing you the peace of the season

This is my favorite story of the birth of Christ. It is the Gospel of St. Luke, and I have heard it so many times I can recite it by heart. This Gospel fills me with peace and joy.

In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. (This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.) And everyone went to his own town to register.

So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger because there was no room for them in the inn.

And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.”

Wishing you all the peace and joy of this season, no matter your religion.

  1. I’m late, but I hope your Christmas was blessed and magical, Noelle.
And I just heard this part of the gospel on Sirius Radio as the lead in to Dolly Parton’s Joy to the World. I got chills when I saw your post!

      1. Finally slowing down today. I had the weekend shift at the library last week, so that made it really busy getting ready for Christmas. But now I can relax. Happy New Year, Noelle!

  2. Hi Noelle! I hope you had a Merry Christmas and New Year❤
We’ve just finished the season’s celebrations in Spain. The 6th January, the Three Kings Day, when children get their presents. I’ve spent most of today cleaning and tidying up! All the best for the year ahead. Love, LucyXX

    1. Took me until this past weekend to finish cleaning up! I love the story of the three kings. A friend of mine, who was a great preacher, said on one of his sermons that he could really relate to the magi. Like them, he was always late! Happy New Year!

  3. Awesome photography! I feel lucky today to see the beauty of photography. It was really great inspirational post. What a memorable experience it was for us!
